She retired in 1985 as a supervisor after 30 years with New York Telephone Co. and was employed with Gallinger Real Estate at the time of her death. Her husband, Arthur, and a son, Patrick, died before her. Mrs. Pierce was a communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church and a former president of the local chapter of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Surviving are two sons, William J. and Michael P., both of Geddes; two daughters, Cheryl Dominic and Nancy Collins, both of Geddes; a brother, Donald Smith of Lebanon; four sisters, Jeanne Robbins of Cookville, Tenn., Carol Evans of Jacksonville, Fla., Patricia Gillman of East Northport and Diane Murray of Chittenango; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home and 11 a.m. in St. Charles Borromeo Church. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. Mrs. Smith was born and lived in Syracuse. She worked as a Navy clerk and was a former social director at Providence House Apartments. Her husband, Herbert, died previously. She was a member of the Most Holy Rosary Church and its Altar and Rosary Society.
