Good Afternoon to ALL,

The first of the TVL meets is behind us now and everyone did very well. If you ran the time trials on 9/12 then you know why the time from the time trials is better than the time you got yesterday,  but for those of you that don’t know,  the course was not marked when we ran time trials and people were cutting  the corners.  So we really can not compare those times to yesterday, at least for most of the team    Like I always say, as long as you went out there and did you VERY best, then that is all that matters!

We did win the meet against Clinton  Girls won 15 to 50 (Which 15 is a perfect score) and Boys won 18 to 44,  VVS did not have enough runners to score.

The full results are on the webpage  http://www.train2run15k.com/NEWHARTFORD/NHPages.html

Saturday,  9/26/09 :EJ Herman  - By the luck of the draw we do not run until the afternoon, last two races of the day.  Boys are at 2:00 and Girls are at 2:30.  We will meet the Bus at Perry at 12:30. We should be back by 3:30.  Don’t forget to sign out your child if you are taking them from the meet.  If you have an older sibling that running in Varsity or JV here are the start times for them too.

Boys JV 9:40

Girls JV 10:05

Boys Varsity  11:25

Girls Varsity 11:50

HELP is needed: EJ Herman race committee is looking for volunteers to be course marshals.  We still need help from 11-1 and 1-3.  If you or a family member are able to help out please contact Mike Kessler at 796-1045 or E-mail at mkessler1012@adelphia.net with the time your available.let me know.

They will take you to your duty stations, instruct you on what’s expected, provide food and drink.

Saturday  10/3/09 : McQUAID INVITATIONAL  - This is another very large meet that goes all day long and as of right now I still do not know what our start time will be.  This is over a 2 ½  hour bus ride one way.  Coach Elias is not available for this trip so I am taking over as coach for this meet.  This is a great opportunity for our students to see some great cross country runners from other parts of the state.  This is the first time Modified has traveled this far for a meet. With the bus ride time taking 5 hours I would anticipate starting very early in the morning and being gone for the entire day.  Not everyone will be able to go to this meet due to the distance. If you do not want your child to go please let me know. Any student being seen as having behavior issues will not be attending.   The crowd ride is too long and the crowd is too big for me to take ANY students that will not listen.  So please speak to your child about the importance of listening to me and Coach Elias. The website for this meet is  http://www.yentiming.com/mcquaid/ If you have any questions about this please let me know.  I will let you know more about this meet when details become available.

Parent Reminders for the week:

·         Pasta Dinners:  Students are asked to bring a beverage or dessert to share.  The dinner will be from 5:00-7:00.   This week’s Pasta dinner host September 25th – Cara Szeles at 21 Sanger Ave, Next week October 2nd -    Sam Shulman 26 Oakwood Dr

·         Clothing orders have been sent in I will keep you posted as to the expected date of arrival.  Right now we are looking at the Week of October 4th.

·         New Hartford Invitational is October 17th,  we will be asking parents to bring items to be sold at the concession stand and volunteering to work the concession stand too so mark that on your calendar . Thank you to Lorey Zaman for being the Modified parent representative for this. We are still waiting to get the list from Coach Nugent to see what is still needed.

·         Banuqet:  Val is working at getting a date for the banquet.  She will be sending out an invitation as soon as she has confirmed everything.

REMINDERS

·         WATER: Please make sure that your child is staying hydrated and brings water to all practices and meets.

·         NUTRITION: Eating properly will make a big difference in their ability.  However, everyone is different as to when, what and how much they need to eat, so figure out what works for you.  Saturday’s you probably want to eat something as soon as you get up and bring a snack to eat after you are done with your run.

·         BE PREPARED: Be prepared for EVERYTHING, Shoes, socks, warm clothing, dry clothing to change into, rain gear,  bring it with you to practice and to the meets.

If you have any other questions comments or concerns please let either Coach Elias or me know.

Thanks,

Coach Turner
