| Click on the Blue text below to see the actual documents 1870 Census page1 Page 2 he is living with John and Ellen not sure what street, I need to go back to the City Directory for 1869 and 1870 and see if Matthew was listed prior to 1870. In 1870 Census it says that Matthew is 50 years old and Ann is 26 years old. I think that Matthew is 40 and is Ellen's brother not her father. From the Syracuse City Directories

From the Syracuse City Directories

Then he shows back up with John between 1886 and 1889. It is very possible that Matthew was not really living at 95 Mulberry in 89-90 since John had moved and Matthew disappears from the directory again after that. I asked the Syracuse Library to search for his death between 1889 - 1892 and they searched 1887-1895 and Matthew is not listed in the NYS Death Index for those years. Questions: 1. Did he move back in with John in 1886 because Ann died? 7/31/10 - Yes he did Ann died 6/2/1884. (John and Ellen had a house full of kids so it would have been very crowded for him and Ann to move in) 2. Did he go back to Ireland between 1880 and 1885 then come back again? 3. Did he go back to Ireland again in 1890 (if he was 40 years old in 1870 he would have been 60 years old in 1890). 4. When did Mary Mangin Lally die? Did she die here or did she die in Ireland? |
| Matthew Lally Research |
| The 1880 Census Ann Lally is 40 and now 4 years later she is 60 years old. If she was 60 in 1884 that means that she was born in 1824. 1870 she was really 46. And in 1880 she was 56. And since she was listed as Matthew's wife Mary Mangin must have died prior to 1870 . I am requesting her Death Cert to see what it says |
